The Temple in Seer Jagir in Sopore was locked after Kashmir Pandits left the valley during the onset of militant insurgency against Indian rule in 1980s.

Contarary to the claims of various right wing Kashmir Pandit groups there is no damage to the Temple. One various websites of the right wing Pandit groups the Temple is listed as 'damaged' during insurgency.

The Pandits worshiped at the Temple which is located on the other side of the river where Indian Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru who was sent to gallows covertly lived.

The group of Pandits thanked the local Muslims and interacted with them for hours, a witness said.

Among the group of Pandits were many children who interacted with the local children and were seen playing games.
