window watching was quite prevalent even in modern times till the mobile phones took over!

Lal Mandi can be seen on Rt side, which was then state banquet hall.
Photograph taken in early 1900's from down stream of Lal Mandi. One can see Present day SPS Museum which then used to be Royal Guest House & Ball Room. Part of it was converted to Museum during Lord & Lady Cursin's official visit to Kashmir in 1905. In the fore ground (on left ie on Right Bank of Veth) the court complex can be seen.
Clear water, SPS museum bldg's reflection clearly seen on water surface of the river.
In present time we can't observe that, even if we erect reflection mirror on river bund , courtesy pollution & pollution.
Different dress code than today few children wearing "kraw" still so graceful.
This was a common feature in my childhood days, in Rainawari, ladies washing utensils by yarbal side or under sarkari nalka regardless in winter or in summer. Ladies were backbone of the families, earning as much as men would or even more. Hats off to that period and people !
Even in the absence of electricity the dedication of a teacher conducting such class with Lantern is commendable and also the enthusiasm on the person's face can be easily seen.
It shows us the honesty and dedication of the teachers. To buid the nation we need those Real Masters but can we find.
