Bangaru Tirupati – Kolar – Karnatka
Karnataka has lot to offer for travelers and if you are the one who
likes to travel to temples, Karnataka has many jewels hidden. It’s all
for us to go out and explore. Kolar is one such place. Kolar has a very
significant place in our mythology. It is closely associated with
Ramayana and Mahabharata. But we will write about it later.
This post is about a beautiful temple located at the place called as Guttahalli and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temples resembles Sri Venkateshwara Temple of Tirupati and hence is also called as Bangaru Tirupati.
This temple is built upon a small hill and you have to take steps to reach at the top. It’s at the height of around 40 meters.
As soon as we reach there, we will be greeted by Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s vehicle.
There is grand entrance after that. Once we reach inside, there is a small Kalyanni (water tank). You will see people taking bath inside the water tank.
You have to take few steps after that to reach to the top where there is a small, beautiful temple of Lord Srinivasa. But you have view it from a small six hole window.
Once you come down from the top, on the other side, their is another small temple dedicated to goddess Padmavathi. The temple dates back to 19th century and is very beautiful.
A nice and serene place, you can visit in half a day. You can club it with your trip to Kotilingeshwara. It’s 10 Kms from Sri Kotilingeshwara temple.

| How to reachThere are two ways to reach there
1) Bangalore -> Kolar -> Guttahalli -> Bangaru Tirupati You have to be watchful about the signs for Bangaru Tirupati. After Kolar you have to drive for almost 12 to 15 kms after which you have to take a right turn and drive through villages for almost 4 Kms. 2)Bangalore -> KGF -> BEL -> Kotilingeshwar – > Guttahalli ->Bangaru Tirupati After crossing Kotilingeshwar, keep driving straight for almost 6 to 7 Kms. You will come to a junction which says “Left to Bangaru Tirupati” and “Straight to Avani”. From this junction its approximately 3 Kms. Main roads are in good condition, however roads with in villages are not good. Hence drive slowly. Also you have chances of cattle crossing, so be careful while driving. |
