A temple dedicated to Goddess Kali was one of the first temples in Kashmir to be demolished by Islamic rulers to construct Shah Hamdan Mosque (Khanqah). Such has been the faith of Kashmiri Pandits that they put saffron mark on wall facing the river and offer prayers even today.
