The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range located in the southwest corner of Germany in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg. This ancient mountain range is famous for its legends and the black fir trees that cover the landscape.The Romans named the forest Silva Nigra or Silva Carbonara because of the dense growth which blocked out most of the light in the forest.
